Casa da Laranjeira
The Casa da Laranjeira (Orange Tree House), with yellow-rimmed windows, is the other large house that can accommodate up to five people.
At the front of the house is a pleasant outdoor living area, perfect for meals and evening gatherings or for a sunny breakfast. Two lounge chairs also invite guests to enjoy the sun on the private terrace. An outdoor grill can be used for family barbecues.
Entering the house is a large space that includes a living room and a dining area. The white walls, the red tiled floor and ceiling with wooden beams are traditional in southern Portugal. With a rustic but refined decoration, the space is cosy and welcoming, with a fireplace for colder days and a plasma TV.
The house also has a good Wi-Fi connection.
Just off the living area is a traditional kitchen, with hand-painted Portuguese tiles with images of fruits and vegetables. The kitchen is fully equipped with toaster, electric kettle, electric coffee maker, microwave, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, oven and stove and all utensils needed for cooking.
The ground floor also has a bedroom with three single beds, two of which are bunk beds.
There are two separate bathrooms on the ground floor, one with a shower and a washing machine, and the other with a bathtub, both with traditional blue or yellow Portuguese tiles.
A traditional wooden staircase separates the ground floor from the mezzanine level, which contains a sitting area with a desk for working and another small bedroom with a double bed.
All the windows are equipped with mosquito screens. In the winter, in addition to the fireplace, all the rooms have Heatwafers, or low energy consumption heaters.
The wooden details, the red floor tiles and white-washed walls, the wicker baskets, the fireplace and the surrounding plants make it a great choice for families or couples.
